More Musings

I planted some of the flats of annuals I bought on Thursday. As I was out there the neighbor was leaving. I could barely hear what he said (because his not so well behaved children were beating the crap out of each other in the back of the van)but I did hear him say to his wife "Planting more flowers? Like that is going to help their yard!" I ignored it, of course. Yesterday when I woke up the flowers closest to their house had been pulled right out of the ground. That combined with the fact that Marty's brand new-only outside in a fenced in back yard for a week hammock was cut (so now it is worthless) makes me wonder what the heck is going on.

I was lying on my bed one day reading. The window was open and the neighbor started talking to the neighbor on the other side of me. (Talking over my yard.) He had no idea I was there, and in the process of the conversation I found out that they are going to be selling their house and he had a whole list of things he thinks he can make me change about my yard and house. If he would like to write up a list I will be happy to submit it to my landlord. ::snicker::

Yesterday we got some Betta fish. Two for Christian (Shrek and Donkey), one for Alex (Nemo) and one for Ethan (Brucie.)

Christian has this cool tank that was given to us. It was made for bettas, and is a giant "M" that is divided (so you can put two fish in without them killing each other.)It has a "tv" on it that is supposed to be covered with furry fabric, but that was just too much for Christian. lol I think we will get some colored cellophane or velum for it.

I am so glad Gwen emailed me! Not only did she give me some great ideas for using her chemistry plans, she sent me some physics plans using the same book. They are really good too! I guess science is covered for next year, too! I think I am going to start Christian on Apologia after we finish the Chemistry and Physics plans. The chemistry plans are 15 weeks and the physics are 30 or so, but I figure that since we school year round, it will all work out. And if not, well... I don't think he is going to be permanently damaged if we don't do high school physics.

We plan to send all of our boys to a community college before University. Once I found out that the entrance exam for the CC is at the 6th grade level, I really relaxed. Now of course I am not saying I am going to stop at 6th grade, or that I am using it as an excuse to not reach our goals. I am saying that I am using it as an excuse to not stress over it any more. I figure that the worst possible job I can do is still better than the best job the government school can do, and my children won't get the crap beat out of them in the process. Marty jokes that we will just let the CC "fix" them. I can't wait until he tells his Grandma that. lol
